This is Timpani, an Aquabot configured to function in the reverse of a Cartesian diver. That is, it sits on the bottom, and shoots to the top when the engine fires. It uses the standard 1381-N solar engine hooked to a 1F gold cap and a Walkman motor. I haven't tested this bot in deep water yet, but I estimate that it can climb at least 10 feet to the surface. In my 20 gallon tall test aquarium, it almost jumps out of the tank when it pops.  The inertial rotation of the body causes the bot to list to one side, allowing it to land in a different spot each time. Timpani is a blast to watch, as it looks like a space probe taking off and landing.
