Creeper is a one motor walker that was made from the leg parts of a wind up insect. The new gearmotor has a 40:1 ratio and draws only 18mA. It is hooked to a 1381-J solar engine with a 1F gold super cap for storage. The gearing makes the bot creep along slowly and deliberately. It takes about 4 minutes to charge up in full sun and walks about 12-18 inches on a pop. The one motor layout doesn't allow for any directed motion, so this little critter just walks forward and glances off of objects with it's bumper. The little antenna looking thing at the back is actually an early activation switch, so that I can demonstrate the walking gait without waiting. As simple as it is, this little beast utilizes a dynamic walking gate to get around. The rear pivot point moves in two directions, allowing the bot to alternately raise it's feet off the floor as it moves them forward and back. An interesting little mechanical arrangement.
