This is the bare frame for Carbot 5.0. It is constructed from jumbo paper clips and brass tubing. The legs have springs inside of the second segment which allow the leg to contract like a shock absorber. It also allows the foot pads to be rotated and adjusted automatically for curved surfaces. Except for the shock assembly, joints are soldered and are extremely strong.

Carbot 5.0 has a dual solar cell bank feeding both a D1 and a 1381 J solar engine. The D1 is hooked to a Bicore which alternately flashes two micro LEDs after dark. The Bicore is powered by a 3.3 F super cap. The 10 mini solar cells feed the 1381J which spins the antenna utilizing 2 4700uF caps. The freeforming on this bot gives it a very complex look and adds to it's over all appeal. The solar array is constructed on perfboard, which made for easy assembly. Rainbow reflective material was used on the antenna to allow for multi colored reflections as it spins.
